Former Indian Footballer Abdul Latif Dead, Sick For A Long Time

Kolkata, PTI Abdul Latif Passed Away: Former player of India’s football team Abdul Latif has passed away. He was ill for long time. Abdul Latif, former midfielder of the country’s football team, died in Guwahati on Monday. He is survived by a son and two daughters. Abdul Latif was a key member of the 1970 Bangkok Asian Games bronze medalist team.

A relative of Abdul Latif said he was troubled by age-related ailments and breathed his last on Monday evening. He was cremated on Tuesday. Latif was born in Mysuru, Karnataka. He represented India in the Asia Cup Qualifier 1968 and the Merdeka Cup 1969. His greatest achievement was to be part of the last Indian team that won a medal in the Asian Games.

Abdul Latif has served coaching for a long time. Abdul Latif started his career as a coach after his retirement from football. Latif, who made his home in Guwahati, played a key role in Assam’s junior and sub-junior team winning the national championship. Abdul Latif also provided his coaching services to Mohammedan Sporting Club from 1978 to 1980. Abdul Latif played for State Bank and Hyderabad in A Division Rahim League. He then played for the HAL team in Bengaluru, but then shifted to Guwahati.
