What’s special in the new Mahindra Scorpio BS6, learn 5 important things

The new Mahindra Scorpio has been listed on the website a few days ago by conforming to BS6 standards. The Mahindra Scorpio is a popular SUV in the Indian market and the company can launch it with an updated model by the end of this month. In the Mahindra Scorpio equipped with BS6 standards, the company has now made many major changes and also added a long list of features. Today we are going to tell 5 big things about the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio in this report.

1. The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio has not changed much visually and has a 7-slot grille, large projector headlamps, LED guide lights, chrome accents with round fog lamps and a hood scoop. The SUV gets 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels, turn indicators with ORVMs, chrome on the tailgate and vertically red lenses on the LED tail lamps.

2. Mahindra Scorpio now comes with 4 different options in the cabin layout. It comes in the classic 7-seat side-facing option and is given a bench seat in the middle and two side-facing jump seats in the third row. The 9-seat side facing layout features a bench seat in the third row and a larger side-facing jump seats in the rear, which the company claims can seat four passengers comfortably. The 7 seat front facing layout has two captain seats in the second row and the second and third row captain seats in the 8-seat front facing layout.

3. The 2020 Mahindra Scorpio BS6 has the same features that were available earlier. The top-end variant SUV features GPS navigation with Bluetooth, AUX-IN, USB connectivity along with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The SUV gets Fox leather upholstery, automatic climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, cruise control and rear AC vents. Talking about the safety features, the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio has dual airbags, ABS, speed alert, anti-theft warning, dynamic gearlines with rear parking camera, rain and light sensors, speed sensing doors lock and panic brake indicator.

4. BS6 Mahindra Scorpio has only one engine option 2.2 liter mHawk BS6 diesel motor, which generates 138 bhp power and 320 Nm torque. Only the entry-level S5 variant comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. At the same time, 6-speed manual transmission is given in the rest of the variants. The new Mahindra Scorpio now comes in only four variants – S5, S7, S9, and S11, while the BS4 version used to come at 8 trim levels. With this, the carmaker has now removed both all-wheel-drive (AWD) and automatic options. The new 2020 Scorpio now comes with a diesel manual front-wheel drive (FWD) system.

5. In view of the lockdown issued due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the company has announced that production of the new BS6 Mahindra Scorpio has been delayed, which will begin after the lockdown is lifted. The lockdown currently ends on 14 April 2020.
