Preparations to provide pure water to all, government is working on this scheme to check the water

To ensure supply of pure water with ‘tap-to-water’ facility, testing labs will be networked across the country. This will enable the consumer to test the supply water from any part of the country. In case of supply of polluted water, its test report will also be sent to the concerned department so that pure water supply can be made there in time. Modern sensors will be connected with water connections to assess the quality and quantity of water.

Remedy to provide other facilities

Along with providing tap connection for water supply, measures have also been started to provide other facilities to consumers. In its first phase, a total of 2,000 testing labs have been set up across the country to test the water quality.

Water quality will improve immediately

Along with sending test reports received from these labs to consumers online, they will also reach the concerned public health engineer. So that water quality can be improved immediately. It is said that in this testing lab, any consumer can get their tap water samples tested, for which very little will be charged.

This is the goal

The central government has set a target to supply pure water to all the households in the country by the year 2024. The Rural Water Life Mission, which has been running since the year 2019, has been expanded. Consumers from urban areas have also been included in this. A huge financial provision of 1.75 million rupees has been made in the general budget for the upcoming financial year 2020-21.

Lab to be held in state headquarters, district, block and tehsil

To ensure pure water supply in every rural household, the testing labs will be there at the state headquarters, district, block and tehsil, in addition to this they will be expanded further. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, priority is being given to providing water connections in those areas where the ground water is polluted. Under the mission, supply of pure water has been started so far by providing water connections to 27,544 habitations affected by arsenic and fluoride.

Five women of Gram Panchayat will get testing kit for free

States have been suggested to install community water purification plants in such areas or habitations and supply pure water to each family for 10 liters of water per member. So far, 32,543 community purifier plants have been established in the country. Under the scheme, five selected women from each village will be given training to check the water quality and they will also be given free test kits every year.

So far 7.11 crore rural households have access to tap water

So far, a total of 7.11 crore rural households have been successful in getting water from the tap. Every school, village panchayat, health care center and anganwadi center in rural areas, along with water supply to every household, is to be completed by 2024. A pilot project of sensor-based water supply is underway which will soon be implemented across the country.
