The fire has been burning in the Similipal Tiger Reserve of Odisha for the last 10 days. This fire has engulfed about a third of the park. This fire in Simlipal National Park is continuously moving uncontrolled.

Union Forest Minister Prakash Javadekar Tuesday 2 March directed the officials to make every effort to extinguish the fire and that the fire should be controlled as soon as possible.
These instructions were issued by the Union Minister about 9 days after the fire.
