Supreme Court Rules Against 10 Per Cent EWS Quota In PG Medical Courses In Maharashtra

The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the order of the Maharashtra government on Thursday to give 10 percent reservation for the 2019-20 academic year of medical postgraduate courses.

The apex court said that after the admission process began in November last year, the state government can not implement it. At least 25 candidates of the financially vulnerable (EWS) category will be affected by the order of the apex court. The court said that the Maharashtra government can not change the rules of the game during the game.

The apex court said that the Indian Medical Council (MCI) can produce more seats instead of leaving the currently available seats. As the court said that EWS is not applicable to existing seats of medical courses in the state. The State Government’s counsel referred to an ordinance passed by the government but the court did not consider it.

Tell you, the court said that unless the MCI does not create additional seats, it can not be given 10 counterfeit EWS reservations by harming others.
