There will be a big change during the 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has become the first team in the history of the tournament to have appointed women support staff. The team led by Virat Kohli has made Navneeta Gautam its sports massage therapist.

RCB tweeted – ‘Navneet Gautam joins us as a sports massage therapist for the 13th edition of IPL. She will use massage therapy to help the team prepare and recover better. We are proud to be the first IPL team which has a female support staff member.

Navneet will work with head physiotherapist Evan Speechly and strength and conditioning coach Shankar Basu to implement massage therapy. She will also work on special techniques related to team preparation, motivation, overall supervision, and all personal physical ailments.

RCB President Sanjeev Churiwala said in an official statement, “I am very happy to be a part of this moment in history and taking another step in the right direction.”

Significantly, in August, RCB selected Mike Hewson as Director of Cricket Operations and Simon Katich as the new head coach. Despite the best players, this team has not won the title trophy in IPL so far.
