Young wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant will go to England as an opener, opener Shikhar Dhawan, Dhawan, who will remain in England and remain under the care of the BCCI medical team. Sources told IANS that Rishabh Pant has already been told that he should be ready to go to England. However, the BCCI has not made formal announcement of Pant’s name. He hopes Dhawan will recover from injury within two to three weeks.

When the team was selected for the World Cup then Pant had ignored the selectors and chose Dinesh Karthik. Pant has now asked to be ready to go to England. However, this 21-year-old player will not be available for selection in the beginning as it will be possible for Pant to get an opportunity only after taking a final decision on Dhawan.

Dhawan has a fracture in his thumb and for this reason he can be away from the field for three weeks. It is feared that he will not be able to play in two matches with New Zealand and Pakistan.

The BCCI has said, “Dhawan is currently under the supervision of BCCI medical team. Team management has decided that Dhawan will remain in England and his injury will be monitored. Dhawan has an injury between left hand index finger and thumb. ‘

Dhawan had scored a magnificent 117 in the World Cup match against Australia on Sunday and the man of the match was selected. India won that match by 36 runs.

During the batting in the same match, Australian bowler Nathan Coulter had hit a ball of Nile on the thumb of Dhawan. After his innings, Dhawan was sitting in the dressing room and kept on serving the ice. He was unable to field for fielding. Ravindra Jadeja had fielding at the place of Dhawan.

When Pant was not selected in the team, many people expressed disappointment over this.Former England captain Kevin Pietersen advised Pant to join the team immediately after Dhawan’s injury.
