Your Best Interview Preparation Guide is Here

Read Time:2 Minute, 38 Second

Congratulations! You have reached the second most important step in the hiring process – the job interview after being shortlisted with your epic resume/CV. However, this is also the last step that will decide your employment in the organization.

During a face-to-face meeting, an employer or recruiter judges you based on the resume/CV, management & soft skills, communication skills, gestures, self-confidence, background, and salary expectations. A few steps can help to crack the interview without hesitation or you can join interview preparation course too.

5 Crucial Points to Remember for a Job Interview

●    Research the Organization

An interviewer would expect basic knowledge about the company’s products or services from the interviewee. Therefore, you should go through the recent news articles, company websites, blogs, online publications, etc.

Instead of asking questions from the recruiter, review the information to find answers. You might even come across areas of expertise or contribution. Additionally, view the employee experience on different social media platforms like Glassdoor, LinkedIn, etc.

●    Go Through the Job Description

The job description specifies the qualities, qualifications, experience, and background required for a position in the organization. Going through the details means you can align with the assigned tasks.

The recruiter may ask questions relevant to the job description, and going through it would help answer them without a second thought. Additionally, it would help if you researched questions around the job title to become more self-confident.

●    Familiarize with the Possible Recruiters

Founders and managers of startups and small businesses often take interviews. On the other hand, large organizations delegate the task to the HR team. In any case, you could research the possible recruiters on LinkedIn and Glassdoor.

While going through the professional bios, you would also come across common interests or educational backgrounds. These can help to build a rapport with the interviewers and enhance self-confidence during an interview.

●    Verbally Practice Your Story Summary

The foremost question asked by most recruiters is related to your story summary, already mentioned in the resume/CV. An interviewer asks “tell me about yourself” as an open-ended prompt and expects the facts to match the resume/CV.

Additionally, the interviewer is also checking spoken English skills during the process. However, they might differ for freshers and experienced interviewees as the former has no experience except an educational background but the latter has both. The interviewer also wants to understand your level of interest in the job.

●    Prepare for Commonly Asked Questions

All interviewers ask common questions like “what is the biggest problem you have ever solved?”, “why should we hire you?” etc. Some companies even give a questionnaire filled with commonly asked questions while waiting for the interviewer at the reception.

The answers to these prompts would determine your interest in the job role and expectations from the organization. The interviewer also wants to determine the possible strengths and weaknesses before adding new tasks to the job role.

In addition, you should wear attire that showcases professionalism. It’s best to make sure the outfit is ready in advance.
