Has the Chinese intelligence ship been allowed to come to its port by the neighboring Sri Lankan government despite India’s objections, its effect on the relations between these two neighboring countries is beginning to be visible? This question has arisen because in the meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHCR) on Monday, India has raised some serious questions about Sri Lanka’s political environment and its economic policies.

Especially the Sri Lankan government has not followed its promise to give their rights to Tamil citizens, the Indian representative has made a strong comment on this and the way Sri Lanka’s economy is trying to move forward by borrowing from outside. But the question has also been raised.

India has expressed concern that no action has been taken on the promises made by the Sri Lankan government to resolve the ethnic issue there. These promises were made by the government there to give justice to the Tamil population, to establish peace and equality there.

Sri Lankan government had promised to fully implement Article 13

The Sri Lankan government had promised to fully implement Article 13 of the constitution there. Under this, provincial elections were to be held. After this, India has raised questions about the debt-based economic policies there and said that recent developments have proved that such policies have their limits and it affects the standard of living of the people.

In the end, the Indian representative has said that it is in the interest of Sri Lanka that the government there should take steps to give rights to the common people at the grassroots level. For this it is necessary that elections are held at the provincial level and the provincial councils should be strengthened. This will make the dream of a better standard of living of the citizens of Sri Lanka come true. India has asked the Government of Sri Lanka to act expeditiously in this regard.

It should be noted that ever since the economic crisis has arisen in Sri Lanka, the most external help has been given to it by India. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ardham Bagchi says that India has given assistance of $ 4 billion to Sri Lanka this year. On the other hand, very little help has been given from China.
