Coronavirus Lockdown: Government granted relief on license and vehicle certificate expire

The central government has given relief to all the vehicle owners and drivers whose certificates have expired recently or were to be renewed in the coming days. The government has extended these dates due to a coronavirus lockdown that is in force across the country until 14 April 2020. According to the circular issued by the Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways, all certificates of validity of fitness certificates, all types of permits, driving licenses, registrations or any other related documents which cannot be extended or extended due to lockdown. Is extended. Any documents that have expired after 1 February will now be considered valid till 30 June 2020.

Transport offices of all states are closed during this lockdown period. The order also mentions ‘non-use segment facility’ for transportation vehicles for suspension of tax liability, which are operational using VAHAN platforms in many states. This means a similar operational response can be adopted by the rest of the states to relieve commercial vehicles such as taxis, bus azis, which are non-operational under current conditions.

The Ministry ultimately stated that many vehicles are involved in the running of essential services in the country and would not be able to renew their certificates / documents during lockdown. As such, it is necessary to ensure that the drivers of these vehicles are not disturbed and face difficulties while discharging their duties. Enforcement officers have also been asked to consider all documents valid till 30 June 2020.
